Gorgos River Viaduct at Teulada, Alicante

Description

As part of the track renewal and infrastructure upgrade on Line 9 (Benidorm-Denia) between Teulada and Gata de Gorgos stations, it was necessary to widen the deck of the existing masonry viaduct that runs across Gorgos River. The current structure was designed by José Carbonell y Morand in 1911.

Additional information

The current deck is 4 m wide while the required width for tram circulation is 7.50 m The core of the new deck will rest on the existing one and 1.75 m long cantilevers will complete the circulation platform. The new concrete deck will be cast in place using two traveling formworks designed by INCYE using SuperSlim lightweight girders. The concreting process will start at the center of the viaduct and each trolley will move towards one abutment. The total length of the viaduct is 167 m. The trolleys run on wheels and rails covering 4.50 m per batch.

They have lower platforms that allow for easy access to all parts of the deck and cantilevers. Thanks to its easy assembly, user-friendliness, and smooth motion, together with INCYE’s commitment to meeting out clients’ requirements, it was possible to deliver a customized product that fulfilled deadlines in the upgrade works of a century-old viaduct.
